Tania Darnton, Department of Chemistry, Caltech,
Come learn from Caltech researchers about how energy can be generated from unusual sources – blackberries! – while taking advantage of an abundant catalyst: sunlight! At this workshop, you will learn how to integrate new solar-based energy science into your curriculum. Using plant-based dyes, you can teach your students how to generate power from sunlight using a home-made solar cell device. In addition, learn four other labs on physics, chemistry and biology. This fun, hands-on workshop is appropriate for middle and high school teachers.
