Announcing the New Caltech.edu

We are pleased to announce the launch of a newly designed Caltech website. The Institute's new web presence is cleaner, more dynamic, and more flexible, featuring a broad range of opportunities for showcasing multimedia content.

This redesign project was motivated by a desire to modernize the look of the Institute's online presence, to more effectively engage visitors, and to replace a technical infrastructure that required updating.

In an effort to make important information easier to find, the navigation has been simplified, and search functionality now includes directory information.

The new and improved website is ADA compliant and adapts to display responsively on all devices—from mobile phones to tablets to desktop computers.

The Office of Strategic Communications worked with IMSS and KWALL, an external design firm, to bring the new site to fruition. The decision making behind the visual design, navigation, and content was driven by analytics, priorities set by Institute leadership, and years of input from users.

Some division and department websites will adopt the new look and feel in the coming months. Administrators of those sites will receive more information shortly from IMSS.

Because the new Caltech website is built on a platform different than the one used by the previous site, community members who post events on the master calendar or announcements on Caltech Today should refer to the online instructions for such postings.
