Re: Campus Vaccine Clinic Now Open to Eligible Family Members
Caltech community members may invite their family members who meet the county's vaccine eligibility requirements to sign up for Caltech's on-campus clinic to be held on Friday, March 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The clinic is offering first dose Pfizer shots by appointment only. Appointments, which are available by registering through the Vons Pharmacy system, are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Although the clinic is free to participants, we ask that you bring a printed copy of your health insurance card.
To register for the clinic, individuals must attest that they are eligible to receive the vaccine under Los Angeles County's eligibility categories, which currently prioritize individuals by age, medical conditions, or employment. Currently eligible individuals include those who are aged 65 and older; who are aged 16 to 64 and have an underlying health condition or disability; or who work in one of the following career sectors: healthcare; childcare and education; food and agricultural; emergency services; transportation and logistics; janitorial, custodial, and maintenance services. (Please see the L.A. County Department of Public Health's Website for specific eligibility criteria.)
In extending invitations to eligible family members, the Institute hopes to support the health and well-being of all members of the extended Caltech community and to encourage broad community immunization. We ask that you do not share the clinic invitation link publicly.
Once all appointments are taken, eligible individuals who are still interested in accessing the clinic on Friday, March 19, may add themselves to an Institute-managed on-call list. If any additional vaccines are available toward the end of the clinic day, individuals on the on-call list will be called and asked to report to the vaccination clinic location on one hour's notice.
Caltech strongly encourages all eligible members of the community to seek vaccinations at their earliest point of eligibility. Nearly half of campus community members have reported through the Caltech COVID-19 Reporting Application that they have received at least one vaccine dose.
This is a promising trend. Vaccinations, along with continued adherence with the Institute's preventative health measures, are important tools for keeping our community well, and will speed the resumption of more traditional campus operations.
If you have not yet reported your vaccination status or it has changed, please update your record in the Institute's vaccine attestation tool. The information provided through this tool is essential to the Institute's pandemic planning and response efforts, and a high rate of response is important.
