Ginsburg Center Construction Impacts November 1–18
From October 31 to November 9, significant vibrations are expected along Linde Hall, Kellogg, Karman, and Downs-Lauritsen due to ongoing backfilling of open trenches and the drilling and installation of shoring beams. The disruptions overlap further vibration expected at the corner of Karman due to underground sewer work from November 5 until November 12.
During this period, traffic patterns will also change due to construction activities. There will be intermittent no parking on the south side of California Blvd between Cahill and Arden. Flag personnel will be stationed between Cahill and Arden to help manage traffic flow where lanes will shift. Please be aware that conditions may change throughout the day, and we urge both motorists and pedestrians to obey all warnings and traffic signs. Additional traffic alerts will remain in effect through the first or second week of November to accommodate mass excavation, with approximately 100 trucks per day scheduled to remove dirt.
The conduit installation activity along Olive Walk restarted this week with trenching starting November 4 and ending November 18, creating low to medium vibration impacts and noise. Further disruptions are expected until January 2025. Next week's update will clarify activity and related impacts after November 18.
The planned domestic water and fire sprinkler shutdown for West Bridge, Bridge Annex, East Bridge, Isotope, Linde Hall, and Kellogg Labs has been deferred to November 9. All Bridge buildings and Isotope will experience no domestic water and fire water, to which CIT will provide fire watch between 4 AM and 4 PM. Linde Hall and Kellogg Labs will experience a fire sprinkler shutdown, also requiring CIT fire watch between 4 AM to 10 AM. This shutdown enables the rerouting of utilities around the planned tunnel between East Bridge and Linde Hall, with sawcut activities following the completion of utility rerouting.
